New York Indoor Regatta Rules & Regulations
To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and successful event for everyone, all participants, coaches, volunteers, and spectators are expected to follow these rules and regulations.
1. Respect the Venue
The New York Indoor Regatta is hosted at the Chinatown YMCA. Please help us maintain a positive relationship with our host facility by:
- Treating the building, equipment, and staff with respect.
- Following all YMCA policies and staff instructions.
- Disposing of trash in designated receptacles.
- Leaving the facility clean and in the same condition as you found it.
- Staying within designated event areas.
2. Respect the Equipment
The dragon boat ergometers used during the event are rented equipment.
- Handle all machines with care.
- Do not move, adjust, or modify any equipment unless instructed by event staff.
- Report any equipment issues immediately to a volunteer or race official.
- Participants may be held responsible for damage caused by misuse or negligence.
3. Respect One Another
The Indoor Regatta is built on sportsmanship, inclusion, and community.
- Treat all participants, volunteers, officials, and spectators with courtesy and respect.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct, harassment, discrimination, bullying, or abusive language will not be tolerated.
- Respect race officials and volunteers, whose decisions are final.
- Help create a welcoming environment for experienced paddlers and newcomers alike.
4. Youth Participants
Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian complete and sign the required consent and liability waiver before participating. No exceptions will be made.
5. Safety
- Participate only if you are physically able to do so.
- Notify event staff immediately if you become ill or injured.
- Follow all safety instructions provided by race officials.
- Wear appropriate athletic clothing and footwear.
6. Event Conduct
- Arrive on time for check-in and your scheduled race.
- Follow the directions of event staff, volunteers, and race officials.
- Only registered participants may compete.
- Good sportsmanship is expected before, during, and after every race.
7. Photography & Media
By participating in the New York Indoor Regatta, participants acknowledge that photographs and videos may be taken during the event and may be used by the organizers for promotional, educational, and social media purposes.
8. Right to Remove Participants
Event organizers reserve the right to remove any participant or spectator who fails to follow these rules, behaves in an unsafe or disruptive manner, or damages the venue or equipment.

The New York Indoor Regatta was created to celebrate the spirit of dragon boating through friendly competition, community, and fun. By respecting the venue, the equipment, and one another, we help preserve this tradition and continue the legacy of bringing paddlers together both on and off the water.
